I ran across all these old drawings when I was cleaning out old sketchbooks. It’s fun to look back at these. And embarrassing. It’s both fun and embarrassing. BUT i wanted to treat you guys to a look inside! today it’s the origin of george hoover! where did he come from? who is he really? does he feel he’s being accurately portrayed in the strip? let’s find out!

March 23, 2008 – Will went to Ralph’s to purchase some easter candy. There he spotted a cute plushy easter bunny and brought him home as a surprise for Lindsey who had fallen ill. She promptly named him George Hoover and the two lay on the couch in their pajamas all sunday playing games on the ds.
we now have proof that his whiskers started out straight, i don’t believe it lasted past this sunday. for some reason, i don’t feel right traveling and leaving george hoover alone at home; luckily, he’s tiny enough to fit inside every bag i own. i also only own giant bags.
August 15, 2008 – Lindsey loved George Hoover so much, she drew him constantly, trying to capture his likeness.
i attempted several times to draw him on all fours but it never took. in his natural stance he rests comfortably on his hind legs, so i guess that’s why it never looked right. i never tried to characterize a bunny before, the teeth got in the way a lot.
September 06, 2008 – George Hoover was selected to star in a micro animated sequence that was about to be optioned and so received a more animated body and a stylish new hairdo. (the show didn’t get picked up.)
October 21, 2008 –Lindsey attempted to make George Hoover more like a rabbit, and tried for bigger feet and legs that were more anatomically correct.
i mostly tried the legs out being influenced by cornelius the pooka prince. he was so cute, so i tried to get george hoover to that level. but it just wasn’t right for him…
November 6, 2008 – George Hoover got short listed to become a mascot for Lindsey’s online portfolio, and was redesigned to look more indie and appealing. (he lost the job to Ogopogo.)
my most favorite drawing is him with the bandanna over his face! it’s pretty freakin’ cute so i’m going to have to recreate it at some point.
January 29, 2009 – Lindsey finally decided to start a webcomic and George Hoover was picked for the leading role. (Suck on that Ogopogo!) He got his final design and was given this character description: “troublesome. plays piano.”
unlike the other designs, there’s only one in the final style before i found the one i liked. that’s how i know i like what i’ve done. there were about 6 total pages of all the others!

January 31, 2009 – The first comic starring George Hoover was posted.
i hope you’ve enjoyed our tour back to memory town. next stop, memoryville where we visit itty and her years of transformations.
